Can you describe the function of unions for us?

You mean what they are supposed to do, or what they actually do?

They are supposed to be a representative body, representing the interests of clients/people within an industry.

What they do, is represent their own interests, cost people their jobs and put entire industries out of work. They are as parasitical, if not worse, than the leeches at the top of the industries they spring up from. If you're really lucky, they aren't controlled by the mob.

This post has finally let me realize why everyone is bitching about fighter pay. You guys assume the fighters are in it for the money and, for the most part, that couldn't be further from the truth. Most of these guys, especially the low level fighters are doing it either A) for the competition and to test themselves or B) To make everyone think they're cool because they "train UFC". Pretty much no one gets into MMA for money and very few ever see a payday at all, as they never get past the amateur level

Good reply, now how exactly do you think anything is going to change in this sport without someone with any type of pull seeing too it change will happen? Take a look at the current state of the sport right now. Fighters are being shafted on a routine basis. You do not think things are going to change all on their own do you?

I'll just leave this right here.

You're an amateur. So you should rephrase that:

You'll take 700 dollar to get your ass beat.
