This is what I was talking about.
Getting close for the clinch is where Diaz gets his shots in multiples. Say Diaz stops two of those clinches before finally getting taken down and then defending the submission attempts by Maia. In the judges eyes, that round should go to Diaz.
Now rinse and repeat that for the first two rounds and Diaz wins unless Maia pulls the submission out or Diaz' punches before the takedown finally add up enough to wear Maia out.
