A strange duality... Fighter vs. Fan
I've noticed this trend a lot lately and I just feel like getting my thoughts out there.
When a fighter loses, I see a lot of things. Mainly I see two sides from the fans:
A.) The fans who knew it all along
B.) The fans that made some excuse for the other fighter losing/winning
This boils down to two main groups:
The ones who wanted a fighter to win, and the ones who didn't.
I just find it funny how at the end of the day, the ones who didn't want a fighter to win will make EVERY excuse possible to make it so in their mind, he didn't...
" Oh, he was on PED's" ( Which is somewhat legit )
" Oh, it was a lucky punch "
" Oh, he was fighting on an injury "
etc etc etc.
Most often, the only people you see who DON'T have to make an excuse or some reason as to why, is the fighters themselves. Are they humbled? Are they that crushed?
I guess at the end of it all, it really comes down to "He won. He got me"... and often times the "how" or "why" doesn't matter at that point, and why should it? It's over, it's done, it's in the history books and you were not the victor. Why try and make excuses? Just get back to the gym and work harder.
I just find it funny, is all. I know that my first thought on a loss is "I didn't do enough".... and it all falls back to me mentally. Thoughts?
