I'm pretty sick of people saying how few loses people at the top of the food chain have. Of course they don't have a lot of loses or KO. That's why they are the best lol

I believe it is hard to increase power punching significantly. Also I think he focuses on movement and work rate not power. The only problem is he talks like he is a power puncher which he clearly is not.

Then why do people give fighters flack for not finishing when they are fighting top competition? Can't have it both ways.

He's the middleweight version of Frankie Edgar. Still a good fighter, but he isn't gonna start loading up his punches and getting KO's against top competition at this point.

Of course you can improve punching power. Everyone has a limit based on genetics but almost no one ever actually reaches that limit. Everyone has room for improvement. In your own post you provided the best method to increase power which is improving technique. You can also do it by getting stronger. For some fighters it wouldn't be worth the time to focus on hitting harder but for Bisping it probably would be.

Watch Bisping's hips and legs when he throws punches. He clearly fails to use them fully and engages his lower back more than anything. In other words, he could hit a LOT harder. He chooses not to commit his legs to his punches so that he can remain mobile and be more prepared to grapple. If he decided to take full advantage of his body and mix in some full power, 100% committed punches to his normal volume punching then he'd probably hurt people a lot more. Imploring Bisping to increase his punching power is far from nonsensical, especially because he has plenty of room to improve.

I think it's one of those things you either have or you don't. Bisping doesn't have it.

All of you armchair boxers who keep saying things like "you can't teach punching power" have no idea what you are talking about. Thats like saying if you don't have a monster bench, you can't improve it. While it is true that some people are naturally hard hitters, that in no way means anyone can't improve their punching power. Part of Bispings "problem" is that he is more concerned with fast volume punches. Watch his torso and feet. He doesn't generate any rotational force in his punches... he just snaps them out and relies on his arms. They have no "weight" behind them. Thats not to say he can't hit hard, its just that he does not on power punches to win fights.

If he wanted he could focus on explosive strength workouts, olympic lifts, and tweaking his technique to focus on power.... but he would be a different fighter and there is no guarentee he would be more succesful.
