Like it or not that auto-pilot statement is here to stay because that's kind of the reality. Timmy was surprised to find out what round it was in his corner in the Randy fight. Guys say in post fights "I don't remember much of X round" all the time.

Sometimes the machine just keeps doing what it's designed to do even when no one is driving.

One of the biggest ones that springs to mind, besides the obvious Barao quote, was JDS after the second Cain fight. "After he hit me, I just kind of went on autopilot", or the fight would have been different if that punch wouldn't have landed, etc. Of course, they fought again and it was even more savage of a beating, completely shattering that delusion.

I'm pretty sure in most cases, they're just losing the fight because the other fighter is just sort of outclassing them, especially when the punch is early and the fight continues for a while.

Anyways, do you have any actual instances where a big punch bluntly changed the entire course of the fight, meaning that one guy was winning and *poof* now he's not (besides an obvious finish) and then it went on for several more rounds?
Do you recall JDS Cain 1?

Well even if it's completely true, the dumbest thing about it is what makes them think that they won't get hit in the rematch and go on autopilot again?

I see your point, TS, and I'd generally agree, but in Cain-JDS 1 there wasn't a whole lot else to the fight which still left questions. In Dillashaw-Barao, Dillashaw was tooling Barao even before the punch, so I just see that punch as something inevitably going to happen.
