Tons of people thought nate would beat anderson after the lutter fight.
And a lot of people thought rich was sick in the first fight, and had a great chance in the 2nd

I like to google search old threads (because it's easier than the actual forum seach) to look at what people have said about fights in the past. Here's some more Silva related ones...

People really forget just how much Forrest was NOT counted out at the time...some comments are more realistic than others but a lot of people like to act like he was a bum...

I will be routing for Forrest

Silva is not gonna out muscle him at all.

Why would it be surprising for someone to believe Silva could lose? Is that not allowed?
I would pick Silva over any MW 100% of the time but I don't think it is wrong for someone to disagree. He is a great fighter not a deity.

I don't think that's the point of the thread. The point is people like to discount his opponents now. But at the moment, just about every opponent was a threat in some way to Silva but now some people like to say they were weak opponents or say nobody thought he would lose anyway. It's not really to look at the predictions and call those posters "idiots" what-not.

It's amazing how often he's seen smiling in pictures given how he lives his whole life shitting his pants in terror.

Not sure why die hard Anderson fans get so defensive when someone explains why they think the next challenger might win. We a a forum do it to every single fighter. JDS destroyed 9 opponents in a row including Cain yet some believed Cain could pull it off and he did so they were right despite all the evidence JDS would KO him again. If you don't like discussion about Anderson's next fight don't click on the threads.
And not everyone who doesn't believe Anderson is the invincible GOAT and God's gift to MMA is a hater. I happen to love his fights and he's quite the unique personality too.

Wouldn't it make more sense to look at odds for the fights to make that point?
I could find posts saying nearly anything online.
But I think you are being kind about the point if this thread. The OP includes mentions of Sonnen who I never see anyone argue never had a chance. He gave a great fight in the first and most consider him the #2 MW still.
These looks more like a how dare people pick Chris Weidman when AS will crush him like the rest. But maybe I am looking too much into it.

I was one of the guys who thought Shamrock and Lindland could stop Anderson if it wasn't for personal beef with Dana. I also though Filho had a decent chance. Then I moved on to Jacare. I still think Lindland could've done it back in those days but obviously not now. I also thought Dan had a good chance both before and after their chance until recent years. Now I feel it'd end up worse for Dan.

I always get a kick out of idiots who say that AS and GSP are scared of other fighters.
