Thiago has been trigger-shy and lame ever since his title run.
People keep acting like he's the same guy from a few years ago.

Missed weight and got Fitched.
Beat Howard.
Got hugged for 15 minutes by Story.
Beat Papy.
Got guillotined by Kampmann in a fight he may have been winning.

2-3 since GSP.
Watch his fights during his title run, and then compare them to the work he's done afterwards.

All of that is irrelevant in a prospective fight with Gunnar. He looked the best he has in years against Kampmann. It's unfortunate he lost but he looked damned good in that fight

Thiago would probably keep it standing, and murder Nelson.

I don't understand the hype on this guy. He's good, sure, but he didn't look overly impressive. He certainly didn't have the striking of Lyoto Machida as Jon Anik would have you believe. His grappling was solid though.

Santiago's never been subbed, he's BJJ Black Belt and pretty damn elite in his defense. Alves would probably get subbed, his gorund game isn't fantastic. But yes on the feet it would be dangerous for Gunni, but he's got a hell of a chin. I just love his style and he's only 24. He'll sprout nicely these next coming years.

... right up until he got choked out.

Alves doesn't have the best fight IQ and he's got a suspect ground game.

At this point I'd put a fight with Gunner at even.

It's a fun fight I kind of like the idea.

He seemed a bit sloppy but damn his uppercuts were sick! He has such a nice snap to them. He reminds me so much of how Fedor was in Rings.

Gunnar was not really impressive tonight at WW

He is way too small. Alves would overpower him and pick him appart and eventually ko him

he was getting hit too often and was just standing there doing nothing...wtf was that ?

he should use wrestling a lil bit more but imo hes too small to wrestlefuck the bigger WW of the division, i dont see him in the top 10 until he fix one of those problems
