im cool with weight cutting, my beef is when the promotion tries to influence where the fighters ought to be fighting i.e. Edgar, Lombard

or when joe rogan says, "if he moved down a weight class, he'd be great"

Possibly, but it wouldn't mean instant succes.
He got kind of mesmerized by the speed of Aldo, at 135 (where he will never fight imo) he would have to deal with even faster guys.
Also he would have to lose some muscles because he walks around at 160 lbs and diets down to 155.

He's still bigger than Jones.

Machida didn't cut at LHW. I remember him weighing in at 197lbs for a fight. It was ridiculous. People don't give Lyoto enough credit. It is very impressive how he has been a top contender in that weight class for so long when he is undersized. Machida is p4p one of the best fighters in the world period.

Also, I'm pretty sure Pettis doesn't have to cut much weight at all for 155. Maybe he doesn't cut at all. I think he weighed in at 154 or 153.5 for his second fight with Benson.
