I'm surprised that so many people picked Poirier to win. Back then, that was stylistically one of the better matchups for McGregor in the top 10. Poirier has realyl good striking offense and his BJJ is pretty good, but he was/is very hittable and has been hurt in most of his UFC fights and sometimes by guys he really should not have been getting tagged so much by. His grappling is very good but he's not known to be great with takedowns.
It was a good matchup for McGregor. Poirier definitely would have the advantage on the ground but I didn't think that he'd have an easy time getting it there.
