most sports have had their isolated incidents. baseball, football, boxing, etc. that's tough to avoid. entire sport predetermined by design it is not. that is professional wrestling. mma fixed matches in the past is alot more comparable to boxing matches that were fixed by mafia or gambling influences.
In Pride, they needed Takada to win, otherwise they'd have failed. At the time, Takada was a big name, coming out of the UWFI and New Japan, and Pride really had no major stars, with Rickson not on the roster full-time. Given they were initially promoting Pride as a combination of multiple fighting styles, including shoot-style pro-wrestling (yup, works), it's no surprise Takada got to win worked bouts. Once they decided they were officially all-legit, any works were kept hush-hush. All Takadas wins were works, including his final bout with Tamura. The latter was derailed by Tamura accidentally knocking Takada out cold...
