I've always said you must beat the champ to be the champ(decisively). Big Rigg handily beat GSP. Usually, with controversial decisions, you have the group that thought fighter A won, and the group that thought fighter B won. In this case, EVERYONE thought Hendricks won.

No. It was a close fight on a round by round basis, and could have gone to GSP.
If you judge by overall damage Hendricks clearly won.
If you judge by who came close to winning the fight it's a draw. I didn't think either guy was ever in real serious trouble.
