He's old yes but hardly taken any beatings in his career. His chin is just fine, he just doesn't wanna be at the top anymore.

A very important asset to a fighter is his legs. Anyone who thinks that SIlva's legs are as good now at 38 as they were a few years ago is an idiot. That is why you will see him get tagged and get taken down a lot more now.

The reason he wouldn't get taken down in the past very often is because his footwork was so good that his opponents struggled to get into range to clinch with him or take him down. He is much more flat footed now however which is obvious in his fights. I just hope we don't see a RoyJonesesque downfall to end his career!!

It might just be that fighting Chris Weidman is different from fighting overmatched opponents whose offense almost literally consists of alternating hands while running forward like Bonnar and Griffin lol.

Silva was in his prime in Pride, the lesser competition in UFC allowed him to continue past his peak.

He didn't seem as strong in the clinch, and also had a difficult time locking Weidman down while he was in his guard like he did against Hendo. Not a surprise that he'd be past his prime.
