i know where you're sort of coming from,as i changed gyms because a few training partners left the area i live and it ended up me training with guys who where mainly between 135 and 170,many who are far techinally better than me,i'm 6'5 and 230...developed some bad habits training with them because of my superior strength and reach,at times i felt like a bully, but to say you could beat up John Dodson is a fucking retarded comment dude.

The UFC will need these guys to break into those markets where they are having a real hard time finding quality guys in the bigger weight classes. WW is big in most parts of Asia, for example. Guys like Okami and Akiyama are pretty big for Asians.
shooto brasil and shooto in japan have both harbored strawweight forever and it still has f-all talent, 115lbs is small even by asian standards. the current 115lb shooto champ is a mediocre FLW that dropped down, then there's shojo (a slightly above average FLW that dropped down), pantoja, murofushi (another mediocre FLW), really no one else worth mentioning. there might be a few FLWs that can drop down, but then you're just making a relatively thin division even thinner, what's the point? it would be like adding a SHW division for guys like bigfoot, roy nelson, overeem and other guys that cut/diet down to 265lbs, just dilutes the talent pool.

that's the difference between FLW and STW, there's plenty of 125 talent out there currently to make an intriguing division, there was even before UFC introduced the division. 115? hell no, atleast not at the moment anyway. maybe places like mexico and thailand will have an established mma landscape one day and will be pushing out quality 115 talent, but that is in the far future. UFC should not be establishing a division from the ground up at this point, 115lb fights will be like amateur hour and do nothing but water down cards with below average talent. much like the women's divisions.

the only 115lber i'd like to see in the UFC is rambaa somdet and he's borderline retired at this point.

I wonder what the PPV numbers would look like with a co main event of a womens title fight and a 115 pound title fight? Probably a better option would be Fuel TV or FX.
