How the heck is 42K to show "expensive" for a top ten MW like Okami, who has been a very good fighter the past several years and won his last 3 out of 4 fights? So, all of a sudden 42K is expensive (SMH). Give me a break Sherdog. I have read this expensive argument all weekend. The reality was that Dana felt Okami was boring who would knock off all his future up and coming contenders. With that being said, the UFC should stop calling itself a sport where the top MMA fighters compete.
My first words describing them where "Not Draws" which means they do not draw in the casual fan and as such do not increase the profitability of the UFC.
Lombard had heaps of hype behind him and signed a god contract, but I am in no doubt he will get slammed come pay review time.
Ask a group of fan if they want to watch the Okami fight or the Leben fight and most will say Leben, he isn't a better fighter in my mind but his style is interesting (although self destructive) and attarcts new fans.
Its simple market economic, I agree it does detract from the UFC being able to call itself the best when it really is a mixture of the best and the most exciting.
Guida, Cerrone, GSP, G-Sot, Carwin, Kampmann, BJ, Paulo, Forrest, JDS, Machida, Noke and ya gotta love Hunt.
Barao to rule them all.
Never forget the freedom fry!!!
