The strike that changed the fight was the elbow on the ground that split him open. Lyoto depend alot on his sharp senses to fight well, and that rocked him and the blood in his eyes didnt help him either.
Jones did not have the oppertunity to be impressive in the stadup, because the elbow caused his opponent to lose his faculties.
Before Jones landed that shot, Machida was slipping out of every clinch situation and resetting, but once Jones clipped him, it showed him down a step or two allowing Jones to work for the td.
Again, MMA isn't pure striking, grappling is involved as well, so Jones performance was very impressive
