The title shot situation would suck even if either Condit/Woodley had beaten the other convincingly. You had an extremely competitive title fight with Hendricks/Lawler that could warrant a rematch, Lombard pulling a Shields on Shields, Ellenberger/Saffiedine waiting in the distance, etc.

That said, Condit had never been bombed on and ragdolled like that (even against Hendricks who did what Woodley did, just less powerfully) and Kos had never been KO'd like that before. Woodley has shown us some attributes we haven't seen before.

Woodley was going for a double-leg takedown, my mistake though. Should have clarified.
This. I clearly said in my OP that slams are unique.

Injuries like this robbed me of good fights I was wanting to see.

Ask yourself this, are either of these guys (weidman or Woodley) going to be talking about these finishes of high level opponents as some of their greatest work?

Will they say "I injured X", "I finished x" or "I beat X".

I think it will be the later.

Anyway I am a bit of an Aldo fan and I was disappointed when KZ got injured.

Wiki has it as "Submission (injury)" which is pretty damn strange.

For comparrison purposes.

Condit: TKO (knee injury)
Anderson: TKO (leg injury
Shogun: TKO (broken arm)

It is because it only happens in the most freakish of circumstances and is never the intended effect.
They might happen, we just don't here about it. Torn Hamstrings, strained ligaments, etc. When one guy is so weak that the other guy takes him down with ease, these kind of things can happen.

Silva v Weidman II, Aldo v KZ, Maia v Dong, Condit v Woodley. They are all flukes. That's not to say the wrong person won, nor is it to say the right person won, just that it was a fluke.

They were both unlikely occurrences. They were wins nonetheless.

The whole argument that a fighter sustaining a fluke injury was planned by the other fighter is getting ridiculous. Woodley did not take Condit down with the intention of blowing out his knee. Nor did Weidman check the kick with the thought in his head that "If I do this I am going to snap his leg".

It is a combat sport injuries happen.

Agreed. Bias behavior takes stupidity to a new level on this forum.
