It is absolutely true.

If you take a random mix of 100 or 1000 A level athletes and an equal amount of 'B' and 'C' level and start them all training equally for a new sport, you absolutely 100% can expect and will see more A level athletes adapting and overall doing better then the 'B' ...the 'C' and so on.

That does not mean that every 'A' will do better then every 'B' or 'C', though. A guy who is 'C' could still end up being the best overall.

Brock to Football?

There are 1000x as many people playing other sports than MMA, makes it more likely to have a cross-over from other sports to MMA. Pretty sure there are some Mittrione level athletes in MMA

How do you measure 'athleticism'? Is it only based, as most of Sherdog seems to think, on explosiveness?

Why aren't things like durability and chin considered part of athleticism, aren't they genetically based physical traits that help one succeed in sports?

I assume you don't follow football because the athletic difference between essentially a practice squad lineman and an elite RB/LB is night and day.

There is no concrete inclusive list for athleticism. We can debate the components and who fits them. There will always be varying opinions, rightly.

If you go by the numbers MJ certainly was a mediocre ball player. But the fact that he was able to basically walk off the street at 30 years old with next to no baseball experience (i believe he played a bit in high school but nothing serious) and relatively hold his own against the best 1% of baseball players in the world is pretty damn impressive. And he was getting better towards the end.

People dont really get how amazing it was that he could even do anything in the minors. They just look at his mediocre numbers and say he sucked. The reality is though that he was better than like 99% of the population. Even high school stars who who eat, sleep and live baseball never get to AA, let alone do mediocre in it. MJ did it at 30 years old with virtually no baseball back ground.

If Jordan had played baseball from an early age there is no doubt in my mind he could have been a MLB player. Probably a pretty good one. Hell some scouts have said that if he had even stuck with it for a couple more years he might have made it.
