ok very cool info, never saw that before, but then I dont go outside the forum much

Take Cruz, he lands 30% his strikes and defends 76% his opponent's strikes so his opponent only lands 24%.. so Cruz's winning his fights.. this makes sense

hah Ronda Rousey beats out GSP for strikes at 56%, Cain is highest at 58%

The fact that you managed to string 2 sentences together puts you above average intelligence for a sherdog poster ts. Don't be so hard on yourself.

If a strike is thrown and doesnt land id imagine its not counted as a "defended strike, unless the person missed because the defending fighter slipped it

Numbers jumping out:

Cruz's quality of opponents

Cruz and GSP's striking defense

Cain's absurdly high strikes per minute, almost doubling even MM's

Rousey's subs per minute - fucking awesome

Rousey being third on the twit followers and Bones getting close to passing GSP for the lead

Opponent win % is fantastic for Cruz, but I think the numbers may cloud things more than clarify them. Although Cruz's opponent have a very high win percentage, I'm not sure that amounts to best quality of competition. Not to say that Cruz has fought chumps, but Jon Jones has dispatched every former UFC light heavyweight champion in recent history. So, although Jones has a lower percentage, I would still argue he has faced stiffer competition.

maybe they dont count strikes that hit air as being defended? the champs often use such great footwork that they dont need to acutally "defend" or block a strike
