Seery Pickett 29/29 - How I'd like to see ground and takedowns scored

I thought that Seery did enough on the feet and neutralized Picketts ground game enough to let the emphatic takedowns (and they were really good) fall by the wayside or at least get equalized but landing the better punches over and over. I think takedowns are scored way too much. I gave Pickett round 1, Round 2 a tie, and Round three to Seery, despite the takedowns. He did nothing with them and he took the worse beating on the feet though Pickett was not blown out or anything, just ate many more hard punches.

Great fight overall.

Seery did much more damage but based on current judging the final scoring was obvious

i def thought that on the feet, seery was landing very well, but as the prior guy said, if someone spends significant time on top, the other fighter needs to wow on the feet in order to win that round, i think its pretty difficult

I gave

1 to Pickett
2 to Seery
3 I think has to go to Pickett as well

Seery may have won big enough on the feet to take it though

30-27 Pickett.

He was clearly the better all around fighter. A draw would have made no sense.

Yes, Picket was clearly better on the feet...I think by better all around fighter you meant "much better wrestler".

You from the UK brah?

I don't deny he won, but Pickett got whipped standing and relied on laying to win

Let me be clear that I was sure the judges would 30-27 or 29-28 the fight based on the takedowns. I'm saying I would like to see the fight judged with less emphasis on takedowns and more emphasis on effective striking. Also, some credit to the fact that Seery was tossed down and managed to totally neutralize his opponent. I think a more accurate reflection of what happens in fights would take place if:

a.) Takedowns are not scored so overwhelmingly important.
b.) Being on top is only MARGINALLY better than being on bottom especially if the guy on the bottom totally neutralizes his opponent.
c.) Close rounds are easily scored 10/10. Err on the side of caution when it's close and go 10/10.

If those three things were taken into account Seery's standup woulda gotten him a draw. Which I believe is the truth of who won that "fight". He beat up his opponent who was able to take him down at will when he started to get lit up. But he couldn't do anything with him on the ground so...

BTW, Seery moves like Frankie Edgar. My net connection was so pixelated I was like "Is that Frankie?" Until he started winging those hooks, but his footwork and tucked chin are quality. New fan. Delivered for stepping in last minute.
