Divisional-wise yes, but stilistically is a punish to Mir. He's taken a beating in his last 4 outings (and I am counting the Nog fight, because he took a good beating before locking up the sub), and most of it came from the clinch, which is Overeem strongest point. The most likely scenario is Mir wilting under two minutes because of Overeem strikes.

Or maybe Mir accepted the match-up because he wants to prove that he can overcome this hole in his game. He looked upset after the Barnett fight because he felt he was in top shape. And it is clear that the UFC still wants to make Overeem a contender, in spite of the set backs.

It makes sense for the UFC. Both are paid big, and are on a solid losing streak, but still have a name to stack a card. Winner emerges with some momentum, can again aim at the title, and the loser gets cut or retires (most likely in Mir's case).

I am sure he will retire after this fight. I foresee a very brutal beating by Reem in Mir's retirement fight though.

Mir: KO'ed 7 times
Overeem: KO'ed 8 times

They both need to retire before they have brain damage.
