Would Rumble Johnson have to pay for the machine after it blew up?

Cage-side weigh-in (right before the fighters step into the octagon).

Would anyone still try to cut? No they wouldn't.

Why? Because there is no advantage in cutting when they cannot put the weight back on.

Will the UFC ever do this? Absolutely not. And the reason is because the UFC benefits more by having their fighters appear bigger than their weigh in weights, since fans in general like to see bigger fighters.

lolwut? you think this is the reason why we have weigh-ins a day before the fights? you know how many people would fuck up and come overweight in the octagon? it would also mess with the time schedule etc.

Plus the UFC would benefit more from having their fighters look heavier, because to the casual fan, the LHW's actually weigh 205 pounds, but it would sound way more impressive if they would be displayed as 220-225ish.

You realize that this has to be impossible to do, practically. The UFC would lose a lot of money.

If this would to be implemented, there's no way anybody would be able to make weight without it being dangerous thus all the fighters have to adjust their weight, get their natural walking weight to a perfect 155, 170 etc. and this takes time.

Do you really think that the UFC is willing to put all the events on hault until fighters are ready to fight in their natural weights?

Someone here on Sherdog mentioned that the day-before weigh-ins have to do with an old tradition in boxing where they do this mainly for promotional purpose. They would have press conferences on that weigh-in day to get the media talking at the last minute to sell fights.

It has nothing to do with fighters' health.

The only reason some fighters don't make weight is because they don't fight at their real weight and try to cut massive amount of water weight in a few days.

If cage-side weigh-in is implement, fighters will have to be in good shape and fight at their real weight without relying on water cut.

If the UFC make it so that fighters stop weight cutting, the fighters would look smaller in-cage than they do now.

Example:

Tibau Weigh in at 155. That's how he looks at 155.

Tibau after rehydrated: Even though it says he's "155," he looks massive here because of the rehydration.

Then you'll get fights called off at cageside. Nice and professional.

It's an interesting idea, it should be done on the day of the weigh-ins. And/or, they should have multiple weigh-ins throughout the week leading up to the fight, including one on fight night.

TS = Genious IMO.

Let them cut all they want within pre-determined hydration safe limits.

Oh and it would be extremely easy and unexpensive to implement. Im pretty sure standard blood sample would give you the info needed.
