True, but I'm not sure Gus would beat them as impressively as Jones did.

This looks like such a poor thread but i cant disagree, Phil Davis as a partner of Gus was a blessing to him. Also i would like to see how Gustaffson improved Phil's stand up.
Just one little thing to disagree, i belive we havent seen to much sub defense, as phil submited him.

P4P is mostly based on accomplishments, so he shouldn't be on the list in that regard. He definitely has the talent, though.

He came close to beating Jones, but was also very close to being finished in the 4th. His best win so far is Shogun, and that's nothing to brag about these days. Ask Chael.

I just don't see him ever beating Jones.

That is conjecture

Gus lost to Phil Davis and has a legitimate loss on his record from a guy Rashad destroyed. His loss to Phil Davis would negate any #1 or #2 p4p spot. I am also pretty sure Gus would probably have very tough fights between Machida, TRT Vitor and Rashad. Rashad is also the guy who dominated and easily outwrestled the guy who beat Gus.

Gus is talented but I think he would have issues with a few of the top LHW fighters and he didnt look good in the Shogun or Thiago Silva fights, though he looked great in the jones fight.

I think Machida would be a hard fight for Gus as would Rashad. Both have very good stand up, good grappling and would be very tough fights for him to dominate as jones has done. Add the dominant Jones to the equation and you have a tough division for a champion who is not destroying fighters like Thiago Silva to be p4p #1.
