Jones wins by reach, there's no two ways about it.

Except other long, lanky fighters don't like Kendall Grove, Stefan Struve, Corey Hill . . .

Then the detractors say "well Jones uses his reach properly, those others don't"

Thereby proving that Jones uses skills to win. Not just reach.

Saying a fighter "almost won" or had a "near win" is akin to saying someone "almost" or "nearly defused a bomb"

Jones has the longest reach in the UFC doesn't he? Cormier hasn't fought anyone with the reach of Jon Jones, and Jones is the absolute best in the world at utilizing his reach and fighting at a perfect distance where he can damage his opponent and his opponent can't damage him.

Being able to deal with reach is one thing, Cormier has shown that he can definitely do that; it's an entirely separate question if he can deal with the length and skill of Jon Jones. I think couple that with Cormier's bad knees and Jones' love of the front leg side kick to the knee and I think Cormier is going to have a bad night if he tries to stand with Jones. On the other hand, I'm sure that Cormier is just as strong as Jones and most likely a much more effective wrestler. He also has a lower center of gravity, which can be an advantage. I think if Cormier is going to win he has to wrestle.

Reach is good if your opponent is predictable and only moves forward and backward. It's not as big of a factor when the opponent mixes up with lateral movements (like Cormier does).

Exactly....it how you use that reach, Margarito is a clinch/pocket puncher that was tailor made for pacquiao speed/movement

Jones/Cormier is an excellent match up between two men who have yet to really be challenged(Gus did Jones)...ive got Jones by UD in a possible FOTY

Reach is an advantage just like everything else. Silva wins because of his accuracy. Mighty Mouse wins because of his speed. Bigfoot wins because of his size. Hendricks wins because of his power.

Very few guys can achieve greatness without using natural advantages. Shields is the only example I can think of.
