I wonder if there are any more prospects coming from Finland?

People on here always talk about Russians being tough, but I have always heard it is the Finns who are some of the toughest people on earth.

Also, considering the Yahya match up and preparing Tom's ground game to be as sharp as possible, it's impossible to not mention that he's training with Timo-Juhani "Tipi" Hirvikangas, who also happens to be a 3x European ADCC qualifiers champion and an aggressive submission specialist with a very similar build as Yahya.

Hirvikangas just faced another European who's considered to be one of the craftiest grapplers in his weight class, Artemij Sitenkov, and thoroughly dominated him both on the feet and on the ground, submitting him with a heelhook in under 2 minutes.

I think Tom will be able to methodically defend himself even if he finds himself in Yahya's guard, a lot like Chad Mendes did a yew years back.

The more I think about this match-up, the more I feel like if Tom takes every step that's necessary for him to be at his very best for this fight, he's got a great chance of winning a UFC veteran in his debut. That would be a way better scenario than most are expecting of him at this point.

Finland can statistically be considered the #1 submission grappling country in Europe, based on success in international tournaments, so you can expect a lot of good grapplers to come from here in the near future.

Here's a few:

Makwan Amirkhani, 9-1
with 8 first round submissions. Multiple Finnish national freestyle wrestling championships in his record.

Timo-Juhani "Tipi" Hirvikangas, 7-2, Niinimäki's main sparring partner and 3x ADCC European champ. A true leg lock specialist. Seems to have a knack for boxing aswell, powerful and quick hands.

Joni Salovaara, 13-6, a tough and physically imposing featherweight with a very well-rounded and ever evolving skillset. He just needs polishing and he'll be ready for the UFC imo.

There are a lot more but these 3 are guys that I think deserve an extra notion.
