Vitor got a license but only with the agreement he couldn't fight a YEAR after the failed test while served as a suspension. Chael got banned for 2 years.

If they blooded tested every single fighter more often we would be having more fighters getting suspended, or stopping PEDs. The fear of testing stopped Overeem.
A year is a long time to not make a living, and most fighters need to keep fighting to pay the bills. Most fighters dont make enough to sit on. That's only the first time they get caught too.

You're just overreacting crazily. The suspensions and fines that are in place are fine. The only problem is catching the PED users. For a while PED users were getting away with it easy so now that they're actually being randomly blood tested they're fighters being caught. Once they realize this is the new norm, fighters will stop or be caught, simple as that.

Nobody want's to be in Chaels situation.

Pretty much. There will always be people that will attempt to cut corners; this is, after all, professional sports where a single good outing can mean a world of difference. If they had stricter drug testing procedure, I don't doubt that it would be kept to a minimum until a new method can be thought of to transgress these rules with little risk.

its not feasible to catch everyone, ESPECIALLY with international fighters

testing them during fight week only catches people being idiots, they can easily cycle off for when they are around the ufc. who is going to test them when they go home to their gym in brazil? you gonna trust 3rd world doctors to have strict testing when theres that much money involved?

My impression is , that for most high level athletics, beating drug tests is easier than catching users. This whole issue is a by product of capitalism- there is more money in drugs and passing tests than in detection.

There is probably no solution to this issue.

The UFC does not want to fix the PED problem.

They don't care that much.

As long as people are buying UFC products and UFC merchandise they will just go through the motions of preventing PED use.

They play along with the random testing, and they follow all of the directives that are in place, but when push comes to shove they are not really pursuing a PED free UFC.

They make enough revenue they could have done it already, but it is just not a priority.

Thread is sorely lacking Chael Sonnen quips.

Is this a sign that sherdog has rapidly forgotten him already. Man, how the mighty have fallen.
