The division only looks weak because Jones ragdolled everyone.

If he wasn't there:

-Shogun, Machida, Vitor (he'd probably stay), Chael, Henderson, Rashad, Rampage

New potentials:

-Davis, Gus, Glover

That's a pretty solid list already.

LHW has become the old man division. Besides Jones, the new kids on the block just aren't up to snuff.

Because of Jon Jones dominance, the division looks to be thinning out but it was the same way in the MW, WW, and LW division. Before the acquisition of WEC and Strikeforce, the LW and WW divisions were lacking new contenders to BJ Penn or GSP. Anderson was fighting LHW's because he was bored with the MW contenders of Cote and Leites, guys who no one thought could even threaten Anderson.

What Jon Jones has done in the LHW division is remarkable and if he wins against Gus, Glover, and Cormier, its time for him to leave the division and move up.

It has. That's why the UFC should ask Mousasi to stay at 205... And maybe Belfort also.

It's only a matter of time before Rashad drops down (like Machida)

The lack of future stars in the division is what hurts the future of lhw. the top ten right now will probably stay relatively the same for the next year or so. machida, henderson, shogun are all on the downslope of their careers. Evans and davis, to me, have already reached their peaks too. Gus and glover are the only potential legit challengers left at the moment for jones. So in the next year i would expect 1. Jones to have completely cleaned the division and move to hw.2. This would potentially make lhw more interesting in terms of the belt changing hands often. But i think Gus would/could have a decent reign if jones was gone.

It's the Anderson Silva Effect.

JJ is doing exactly what AS did at MW for years.

Thats what happens when the old legends get beat or retire and you have the P4P best fighter on earth smashing everyone left and right. the div doesnt look as good.

Right now you have Glover, Davis and Gus as the next guys and DC is said to be dropping down after the Nelson fight so you do have some challengers for Jones.

If he beats Gus you have atleast two more big fights in the div.

Partly JJ has beaten almost of the division, making everyone else look less impressive.

Partly fighters are literally leaving the division, because they know there's no shot at the belt until Jones goes up to HW.

Up to Snuff or are the new kids just not as good as Jones.

Its one thing to not be a top or elite LHW fighter and its another to not be as good as the champion.

We will see where the division is at after the Gus, Dan Cormier and Glover fights.

That is the sad thing about the issue, LHW will become competitive again when Jones leaves.

Sadly its true.
