Jones trolling the fighters he fight is part of his methodical game plan.
Jones is an intelligent cerebral fighter.
He doesn't troll and seek for reactions from fighters for his own amusement. He does it because in his mind, Jones know he is human. And when he fights another guy, being the cerebral person he is, he gets very nervous. He is like GSP in a lot of ways. He gets scared.
But from Jones perspective, if he can get a reaction out of his opponents, an immature reaction, any type of reaction, that in his mind brings them down from the pedestal that he has put them on, he becomes more confident. The fact that Cormier was a beast heavyweight beating machine scared Jones to death. But because Jones is seeing that Cormier is being flustered from his antics, it brings Cormier from superhuman to just another man in Jones mind. And his confidence soars.
That's why Jon Jones does what he does.
Now when Jon Jones fight Chris Weidman, someone who is completely balanced and confident in himself, Jones won't be able to seek a reaction. Chris Weidman is like a boulder, you can't move him. And this will scare Jones to death and he will already have lost the fight before the fight starts.
