Dave Meltzer , He's been an Industry Insider for Pro Wrestling and MMA for years . From what I understand he Has Sources within the UFC aswell as the PPV providers themselves .
Someone asked Dana How close Meltzers Estimations actually where once and Dana Gave a Little smile and said "Next Question" , this was agesss ago though .
It's the most reputable source we have , I know a lot of people like to Hate On Meltz but he breaks a lot of stories (Like Brock going Back to WWE etc) and I haven't any reason to doubt his PPV estimations .
Georges St Pierre
GOAT Connor Mcgregor
Years ago Vince McMahon was quite pissed he was getting this info. and threating the company that distributes the PPV's to the cable/satellite companies. This was back when pro wrestling and boxing basically was the only PPV events around that mattered. I think Meltzer didn't get numbers for like 4-6 months because of the heat that was put on.
No one knows the exact numbers till months after the event. But I'd say Meltzer's number are within 10% on most PPV's.
"We were a company that was making money on all of our events except for the Fedor fights" Scott Coker......and people want to blame Zuffa for Fedor not fighting in the UFC.

I think PPV #'s will get harder and harder to "estimate" - I know I just buy the fights from the UFC now - I prefer having the camera options, etc. that you don't get with the PPV. The only time I do PPV is if hosting a party or something.
