Why not rematches to awesome fights?

Why do some people not want to see rematches of fights that were awesome?

The main basis is the fight "should stand alone in it's great context" but that doesn't make any sense.

Even if a rematch like Shogun Hendo II, Bigfoot Hunto II or Shogun Lil Nog II wasn't as good as the first, that doesn't mean the first fight is now going to suck all of a sudden.

The first fight shows that the two competitors have the ability to put on something monumental, so why not do it, especially if the fight ends in a draw or something?

I think it's worse to know what we might be missing.

because we want to see new matchups.

plus i don't want to see shogun or hendo take that much damage again.

same with bigfoot/hunt.

in both fights it is almost guaranteed

It's a fight.

The whole point of the thing is to hurt someone. We accepted that as fans when we became fans.

All 4 of the guys are almost guaranteed to take the damage because of their fighting styles.

Yep.

When a fight's for the title and it's even, having a rematch often makes sense, because we all want to know who the best is.

But when it's between guys like Bigfoot and Hunt - there's no great need to have another fight to try and find out who's better. It's enough that we learned they're pretty equal. Now we can move on to other matchups with them and get some variety.

I don't have a problem with rematches, I just don't want to see immediate rematches.

Give the fighters time to change and adapt. If you want to see the same fight all over again, go to ufc.tv.

Bigfoot and Hunt should never rematch. It would taint that fight. There was no better outcome than what happened last Saturday. I don't think either of them will ever be the same though.

Second fight can rarely live up to the first and people like new fights.
