He didn't look off his prime Vs Maia he was just being an ass. I personally don't think his reflexes have looked as sharp lately (still the best in MMA though) and he has been covering it by laughing when he gets hit and pretending he let them hit him. Your reflexes are one of the first things to go when you get older.

His footwork was undeniably the worst it has been in the UFC in his last fight but that was probably more just over confidence. People say he always fights like that but truth is Anderson NEVER plants his feet like he was doing vs Wiedmen especially when he is showboating .

VS Hendo was probably his best mix of skill and athleticism

Nah, he just totally ate some shots on the jaw from Bonnar. He just has a good chin. He has done it his whole career for a chance to land his own shot and it has mostly worked.

I noticed that he started slowing down after the Belfort fight. He looked slower against Okami and not as agile, even though he still destroyed him. Against Chael he looked good but not great, and couldn't really land on him before the backfist but still beat him with a short hook. Against Bonnar, he slipped against the fence immediately (when does that happen?) and was getting clipped. He still looked great because he's just that good, but you can tell his footwork/speed are declining.

He's still in his prime.

His loss is due to better opposition.

Pretty much agree. My point is, some can get fooled into thinking he's past his prime, when infact it has much to do with how the competition looks. Remember he got dropped by Sonnen, and later ran through Belfort, Okami and Bonnar. By some peoples logic, he should be past his prime after that Sonnen fight. We all, well almost, know that's totaly incorrect. Fighting is also a motivational thing.

I would say anywhere around 2009-2011.

Up until after he beat Vitor. I think he wasn't in his prime anymore when he beat Okami even though he had no problems with him and did great.

But of course, now that he's lost, people are going to look for some reason to say they could see it coming or that there was an evident decline.
