I would say that Weidman is very marketable. He's a good looking all American wrestler in the UFCs biggest and most profitable market. He's from the largest media market on earth and comes across as a nice, easy going and well spoken man. He waves the flag and smiles in the face of adversity. He destroyed a p4p GOAT candidate twice and does nothing but win. The only way he could be more marketable is if he had Chaels speaking skills.
I think you can discredit anybody, and a lot of people are trying real hard with Weidman. Most of them are people that are elitists who have strong anti-American streaks. The idea of a guy like Weidman succeeding, especially against their foreign/brazilian heros is terrifying to them. So there must be something wrong with him.
