Don't want to be the do you even lift bro guy but anyone can control their power while sparring, some guys are just dicks. I used to be a lot lighter and sparred with guys a LOT bigger then me. It was never a problem. Most people that have done martial arts will tell you the same thing. Also while MuaythaiBX has a point, sparring shouldn't be about winning.
Anyone who is trained can control their power and if they don't then that was a choice.
I did tkd as a kid. At one point I had advanced to a red belt and I was the youngest kid in my class, I was about 11-12 and the rest of the class were teenagers. 90% of the people were absolutely fine to spar with but one or two kids would throw heavy power shots (mostly kicks) at me.
When I hit my growth spurt I definitely tried NOT to be that dickhead that was throwing power shots in sparring to try to "win" or seem like a tough guy. Even though I fully understand the instinct to use power if you have it and I understand the ego portion that could lead to those actions I try to live my life by the one commandment, "thou shalt not be an assshole".
