Why no 10-8 rounds in Fitch-Maia?

I wasn't referring to any specific Fitch fight. I was explaining that if Fitch had gained top position and maintained it the whole fight long, did go for subs but was not close to getting one, threw virtually no strikes, then nobody would have claimed it should be a 10-8 round. The same is true here with Maia. He dominated positional control, that's it. Did not come remotely close to finishing the fight and scored zero damage due to strikes.

I get that part, but I wanted you to expand on "That is if Fitch did his normal Fitching and laid on Maia for 3 rounds".

Really there is nothing to expand on. I think you are over-reading into my comment. Fitch often top controls people to a boring degree, my meaning is if he did that to Maia (hypothetical) and also didn't strike attempt subs etc.

I am not referring to any specific Fitch fight, rather his general fight methodology.

With no damage done from strikes over the course of the fight, the rounds can't really be scored 10-8.
