laugh at him guyz
Also, I'm ashamed to admit that, even if Shogun was already one of my favorite fighter before he fought Forrest, and I thought he would just tear up trough the UFC and take the gold (even if I always thought that the UFC rules would handicap his style), he was still one of my fav after...
but this fight, his pretty bad knees injuries, gassing, the way he looked in victory against Coleman II (even though that, contrary to the majority it seems, I thought it was an entertaining brawl), I thought his career was over...
I was sad, but I was also trying to look at things objectively (since I hate delusional nutthuggers, I try my best not to think like them) and I remember predicting here (it's a new account, lost my password) that sadly Chuck would most likely TKO him if his new style was the way he fought in the Forrest/Coleman fights.
I had never been so happy for being wrong. He looked like his old self and KO'd Chuck (still in the top 10 at the time, and closer top 5 than 10) in an impressive fashion.
He then took on the then invincible Machida and looked incredible, fast, like he never had those injuries.
Sadly, we all know what happened next, maybe the worst robbery in a MMA title fight ever.
But Shogun looked great in the rematch as well, finishing the job this time.
After the Coleman II fight, I wouldn't have believed that Rua would make such a comeback.
I was a huge fan, but I tried to be objective, and Shogun rose again like a true warrior.
I find it sad nowadays when I lurk Sherdog and read tons of new fans laughing at him for losing to Sonnen (and I like Chael), and Sonnen fanatics rubbing it in Shogun/Wand fans faces. Rua was always a respectful person and fighter.
