I think it works well on a smaller roster like bellator's where there's only a few top guys. In bellator there are a few guys who are well on their way to fighting each other 5 times. Would seem weird in the UFC, where there's a lot more options for champs to fight

No. It took how long to get the inevitable King Mo vs Rampage? When it could of happened like a year ago.

Tournaments are a fun gimmick, but they are far from the best form of matchmaking.

Bellator has abandoned the purity of its own system with biased 4 man tournaments and instant rematches. Pretty lame.

LOVE the "tourney". Cant see it working in UFC though.

huh?

No. Maybe in rare circumstances like when GSP retired. In that case a tournament for a new champ might have been interesting. But Hendricks probably deserved his opportunity.

this guy knows whats up...

the majority of Bellators matches outside of tourny bouts are mismatches or journeymen fighting prospects

they are so all over the map its crazy...and their tourneys are favored so that the person they want to win gets to the final...case and point last seasons WW tourney

Rick Hawn rematches Brent Weedman AGAIN to get to the final? and the fresh tourney faces (War Machine and Ron Keslar) face each other? makes no sense

or the hilariously "non-biased" tournament for Joe Warren to win, making his stint on Fight Master purposeful

I agree. You forgot the talent gap in Bellator also creates lopsided fields. Too easy to manipulate an 4 or 8 man field to get the "winner" you want.

Done properly yes. Bellator's long gaps between seasons make it impractical.
