It seems like all the mcdojo talk comes from JKA guys.

I mean, it's great that your style has lineage and you know the Japanese names of the techniques, but in reality nobody else really cares. It's just a cry for attention that what you do is so superior to what others do. Pretty petty, and stemming from the same sources.

I'm lucky enough to be a member of a judo club led by a 7th degree black belt and a 6th degree black belt. The promotion system is more informal than most, but there's no question it's done by merit, not money.

I'm proud to say no, I do not attend a mc dojo

1. instructor won IBJJF worlds last year gi (Master's division so he's not big up and comer)
2. Same instructor lost nogi Worlds in his division to Cleber Luciano (tito ortiz's jiu jitsu coach) and was awarded 2nd place. (cleber won an MMA fight the day before, frickin beast)
3. The instructor is incredibly detailed and shows multiple approaches toward the same position over time.
4. The instructor rolls with us, and easily destroys the biggest guys that terrorize the rest of us.
5. The instructor is friendly and approachable, no overly macho attitude
6. It takes a long time to get promoted but people tend to progress more if they compete and win.
7. The gym is not over pouring with tons of new students , but the gym is successful based on a strong following of returning students = skilled sparring partners.

Actually not at all. Yes I did JK, but it's the point that these "Mcdojos" don't even have real sparring. I can't take a martial art serious if it doesn't have sparring.

My coworker told me his 12 year old daughter is a second degree black belt. I asked if its a junior black belt or full fledged one. He said a full fledged one. Mcdojo

Of course I wouldn't call a school a "McDojo" , except for them I disagree with what they do. Now they're McDojos.

My theory proven.
