Not too far fetched. Sambo guys dont emphasize too much on chokes. Fedor had a few but he was big on Judo.
Khabib has a few triangles.
It would be fun to see a % of MMA guys with a sambo background, how they stand with chokes

Gunnar via decision.

As an International Master of Sports in Sambo I'd assume it's difficult to submit Akhmedov. I noticed his one loss was by submission but it was 3 years ago and only his second fight, while his opponent already had 17 fights and several submission victories.

Gunnar might be able to TKO/KO Omari. Gunnar is often hit but he has good striking when he is on the offense

Of course, this fight could end in several different ways.

But as a general rule of thumb, I usually don't put stock in one fighter finishing another via strikes if that fighter hasn't been T/KO'd before. Plus, Gunnar's 3 T/KO wins were early in his career, the last was in 2008.

I agree. I think in the end the speed will be a difference. Omari looked like he was in slow mo a few times in his UFC debut. Got rocked more than once also.

I think Gunnar brings out the big gunns for this one.

But seriously, I don't even know, these Dagestanians are pretty hardcore.

Nelson will hurt him standing, then submit him, 2nd round.
