Rory is a good fighter, but he is now facing guys that aren't going to let him use his methodical/technical approach. When you get to the top, you have to be able to adapt your gameplan as the fight progresses and Rory seems like he has trouble with guys that bring the fight to him (such as Lawlor/Condit)

Best Fighters on The Planet Today:

1. Jon Jones
2. Georges St. Pierre
3. Chris Weidman
4. Renan Barao
5. Demetrious Johnson

A hype train derailing would be a 29 year-old Erick Silva losing to The Dong, a fellow whose stand-up resembles that of an amateur kickboxer (I like DHK but he may have the worst striking in the UFC; just watch the 1st round of that fight).

Same what happened to GSP, Mark Bocek, Miguel Torres etc. TriStar is what happened.

People blame Jackson on everything, but Firas makes Jackson look like Chute Boxe. Firas has lately turned a bunch of exciting fighters into boring, pointfighting shit.

he was just not as good as everyone is advertising him to be

he's alright, but long ago when people called him the heir apparent and whether he was willing to fight gsp, it was a moot point, since he was like 4 fights away from the championship

^This. He was grossly overrated and got labeled the next GSP just because he trained at Tristar. MacDonald never showed the dynamism or dominance that GSP did at the same age. The notion that he was on the short list for a title shot before he even had a top ten victory was laughable.

That was an impressive Rory performance. He showed speed, power, decisiveness, supreme confidence.

I'm disappointed in the loss to Lawler - It was Rory's fight to win and he let it slip away.

I think that the points about him trying to be smart against some exceptionally big hitters are fair but I also suspect that he might be buying into the 'future of the division' hype too much. Right now, he is still fighting his way to the top, not protecting a legacy - his way of fighting should reflect that.
