I don't think so. Kenny was definitely an overachiever. He trained hard to become a good, solid fighter. Compared to what he was like before, he improved ages.

Florian thread, that means I'm commenting.

I don't think Kenny was ever a choker: To me, the word indicates stumbling under the spotlight, not dealing with pressure or adversity well, and in my opinion, it doesn't accurately describe him.

Kenny Florian was a great fighter, but he lost to greater ones. And there's no shame in that. He won plenty of big fights, but clearly reached his limit when fighting the best of the best. At times this was because he was undersized, and at others relatively less skilled.

In my opinion, the only fight he lost that he should have won was the Maynard fight. I think Kenny was the better fighter but just got bullied by Maynard's pressure and strategic takedowns to seal rounds.

He actually admitted Dana was right

You can still pick up on it when he commentates fights, he always says something about pressure.

This post is ALLLLL OVER!!!!!!

Like people said, I don't think you can call it a choke when you lose to better fighters. I mean, did people really think Kenny was supposed to beat BJ or Aldo? He was better than most, but not exactly what comes to mind when you think of elite fighters.

Then why did you have the bowl Nick? Why did you have the bowl?

Yeah like everyone said, he lost to the better fighters. He got outwrestled by Diego, Sherk, and Maynard if I'm remembering right. Penn and Aldo are just beasts though so no shame in losing to them. But all that aside, I love the combo he landed on Guida that lead to the finish.

Beautiful I say.

He didn't have the athleticism of a lot of guys. He was capable of beating some very, very good fighters (Lauzon, Gomi, Guida, etc.) but not quite at the elite level. I feel like he could've won the Maynard fight, but I don't think he had much of a chance against guys like Sherk, Penn, or Aldo.

Specialization helps different disciplines advance. MMA keeps them practical.

MMA is like Lindsay Lohan's life - Usually entertaining but full of terrible decisions.

Pressure may have gotten to him against Diego, but it was the first TUF so that's understandable. And no shame losing to Sherk, BJ and Aldo. They're simply on another level.

We, the unwilling,
led by the unknowing,
are doing the impossible
for the ungrateful.
We have done so much,
for so long,
with so little,
we are now qualified to do anything
with nothing.
