Samart is, of course, a legend and one of the absolute greatest strikers in history, but it is worth noting that he also defends a lot of low kicks merely by stepping away (which I personally believe is a safer method of defending them) instead of relying exclusively on checks, which many do. for example, one thing he does in that video which I've actually never before or since seen is literally just drawing his lead leg back in response to an inside low kick (around 2:50-ish and at 3:32).

Man I forgot how good his teeping was. such crisp boxing for a Thai as well. Just look at how he continually escapes the ropes and retakes the center of the ring too... =)
