its a legit loss. doesnt matter if he "wouldve beaten hamill anyway". he didnt obey the rules and by doing so he forfeit.

the fact that its the sole blemish on his otherwise perfect record is irrelevant. he doesnt get beneficial treatment over fighters with a bunch of losses, just because it would be cool to see an undefeated champ... hes been defeated.

I don't consider it a real loss. Especially when the other guy got destroyed.

That, and it's a stupid rule

While Jones did throw a few questionable elbows on the ground, he had already really finished Hamill by that point, but Ref. Steve Mazzagatti wouldn't stop the contest.

It's unclear if Hamill was actually intelligently defending himself because there's really no way he could communicate with the Ref. given his hearing impairment, and Jones was just dominating from mount.

While I'm sure Jon Jones has gotten over the DQ by this point, I'm wondering if anyone else has a problem with this stoppage, one that becomes the lone blemish on JBJ's record, and perhaps labeled him a dirty fighter.

Thoughts?

he did break the rules even tho he dominated the fight

There is a difference though, he was disqualified from the match, thus he lost the match, but to say that he was "defeated" is wrong. In all intensive purposes a fighter hasn't won a fight vs Jones. So though you can say that technically his streak was broken, it's perfectly understandable to consider him undefeated in some regard, especially when the argument is about weather a fighter is on a streak of good performances, which Jones is still on.

And im not even a fan.

I think the issue here is one of perspective. From a sports standpoint, and those that are accustomed to fallowing sports, technical defeats and rules are a big part of the game, so the numbers never lie. But from a fighting perspective, and just the eye test, it is not as important; from that standpoint Johns win over gus is probably more questionable since he got beat up.

He got Mazzagatti'd and the UFC doesn't get to promote Jones as the undefeated champion he is. Sucks, but we move on.

I think it's funny his record is tarnished by him being a d-bag.

Imagine how arrogant he'd be if his record was perfect.

He'd be twice as annoying...

It's good, too, for his legacy as the most unsportsmanlike fighter in UFC history to have a loss due to unsportsmanlike conduct.

I'd love to see him lose to Glover for any of the type of fouls he's committed but never been punished for.

Karma is about overdue to bite a huge piece of his ***!

Nobody in their right mind thinks Jones has ever lost a fight.

What's funny about that fight is Jones was handing Matt the most lopsided beat down of his career.
