Sounds like you're getting counter punched or pit-patted (Diaz style) so constantly that it interrupts your breathing. People like Diaz and many boxers use that method to ko opponents at a world class level, so in the words of Anderson Silva: "iss normal, de fight is de fight".
My advice would be to take your coaches breathing advice more seriously and try being conscious of your breathing during rounds, this is hard as fuck so don't be discouraged if the round's over and you only just remember to breathe properly. Happens to me all the time.

Also do not empty your lungs when throwing. You need air to expel when hit back. Get a better D, more situps.
