No. Fat does need oxygen, but it doesn't require more oxygen when you are fighting like muscle does. Muscle uses oxygen to support energy production in muscle. If you do more work with your muscles, they will require more oxygen to fuel the process.

Fat guys have cardio issues not because their fat is eating up oxygen but because they are typically out of shape. That is, they have low cardiovascular fitness so they aren't supplying their muscles with enough oxygen.

Haha, thanks. I recently had this huge debate with a guy on here claiming that "a nice layer of fat" fueled the muscle it was next to and wouldn't listen when I tried to tell him glucose is the main energy source for an MMA fight and that a small amount of fat far exceeded the caloric requirements for a 15-25 minutes bout. He thought 20% body fat percentage was ideal for a HW. He claimed he was an MMA trainer as a way to "win" said argument. It was pretty hilarious. I was supposed to put together a few sources to expose his ignorance for him, but I haven't really felt like it.
