I watched the lavar fight... my goodness lavar was in for a ground battle which he was holding out well but pretty clear while he has worked on it in some areas still he missed a choke when he had his back if Lavar had survived r1 I reckon he would have put a pounding in r2/r3 and got the win simply on cardio and heart alone.

Either way not went how I envisioned it I felt lavar would have not gone remotely in that area and played on the ground so much considering its his weak area.

Reminds me to keep in check and look for my simply live bet plays, looking forward to Wednesday

Feel if it hits the ground he can easily dominate with his superior grappling skills, however I'm not sure if he will be content to stand and bang, or even has the TD skills to bring it to the mat? If he stays on the feet i feel he is in serious trouble though.
This fight won't be going the distance. I like kimura as I'm a grappled myself but he gets tagged way too much ...poor striking defense. Roop gets tagged a lot himself but he has good offense on the feet. Either roop by tko or dustin by tko/submission imo...

Yay, Road to the Octagon, my favourite UFC show. Hundred times better than Primetime/Countdown.

Gonna watch it tonight.

With that being said, early picks:

Gagnon
Walsh
Grujic but very close, I bet he's the underdog
Bocek - again, unsure on who his opponent is
Kimura
Jimmo
Kaufman
Noons
Poirier
Laprise - close
Westcott - very close
Noke - close
Bisping

http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2014/4/9/...tions-mma-news

De La Torre is a dynamic striker, he throws with power and has great timing on his strikes. He's very comfortable on his feet and shows it by mixing in flying knees with more conventional combinations. He's not a big kicker, and this may be because his takedown defense isn't all that great. He's not unwilling to shoot on opponents, himself, but seems to have trouble consistently defending takedowns and/or giving up top position. To his credit he seems to have pretty excellent endurance and an aggressive grappling game when he gets the opportunity to use it, but against wrestlers and grapplers who don't tire, or who take good opportunity of advantageous position, De La Torre may continue to struggle.

This all depends on where you think Bocek is as a UFC talent right now. Nine years into his career and he's really only ever lost to the best lightweights in the division. The rest of the pack, he tends to be able to overwhelm, if not quite dominate. Frankly, given De La Torre's tendency to give up position, and Bocek's well honed wrestling and grappling skills, this is going to be a pretty tough fight for the newcomer. If he's cautious he could last to the final bell, but if he gets sloppy, Bocek will very likely make him pay.

To get us better acquainted, here's De La Torre's last fight against Cameron Ramberg (fight starts at 3:27:37):

Thanks.
De La Torre showed poor TDD in that fight against an opponent who has similiar style to Bocke. Sure he was active on the ground and was able to get the finish due to his opponent fading cardio, but Bocek is way on another level of grappling.

There's some red flags too. He is going up a weight class and is taking the fight in 8 days notice.

In my modest opinion, i think De La Torre can only win via KO or if Bocek gets tired after round 1.
