At this point it's just bragging rights, they want to be the first Madison square garden mma event. Whether people like it or not, the UFC is a trailblazer for the sport and everyone else is just following their footsteps. They can change the name, ring and the format but everyone still considers the UFC synonymous with MMA
If not for them and their accomplishments, most mma brands would cease to exist
