It's actually a very effective tool. I threw one in class just for fun one time and nearly ko'd my sparring partner. When you get timing down it's awesome.

Ive said this before, that when you get your opponent rocked, thats the perfect time to throw advanced/"crazy" moves, because in that mindset, all your opponent is thinking about is surviving, and using basic defense to do that.
The spinning and/or delayed moves (like the question mark (brazilian) kick, or the one in the video) are the next step after the basics. Being able to to know when to throw them, after you've set up your opponent with the basics, is a great way to hit with them, because they aren't expecting it.
That particular kick in the video, i've landed numerous times in practice, except to the body. I set it up with inside leg kicks, which i use to unbalance someone. Once someone has been unbalanced a couple of times, they tend to stand really heavy, so they don't get unbalanced again. while they are sitting down, i fake the first kick, which hides the next kick and also gives me momentum for the spin.
This is why its called "Mixed Martial Arts", and not Wrestling-Muai Thai- Boxing- Brazilian Juijitsu. That guy that says fighters should focus on the fundamentals, is ignoring the fact that in a fight, you need to be able to surprise your opponent, and hit them with something they don't know how to defend.

It's maybe not as flashy as WEC Aldo but he's not going to lose for at least a couple of years imo.

Another example Jon Jones
his lack of basic striking skills other than his rangy kicks and the ability to take anyone down were exposed against Gustaffson.
Gustaffson can at least throw a jab and move his head and feet, a combination which seems to be very hard for most UFC fighters.
After this fight he even went back on his wish that he wanted to fight a Klitschko.
Do you even lift bro?
