My thoughts on my current nutrition plan and s&c plan
Hey guys I have read several articles on this forum concerning dieting and strength and conditioning.
To give a little bit of background of myself, I just started training mma about 4 months ago (bjj, wrestling, and Muay Thai). I currently weight 175 with bf% around 15% and I'm 6 feet tall and am 21 years old . I would like to fight in the future probably after about another 5 months of training or whenever I feel comfortable I am ready for my first fight. So here's the predicament I'm in and the reason why I chose to post this in the dieting section.
My current diet plan I am on is the CKD diet which is similar to Atkins but with a carb up period over the weekend (the diet is more centered for athletes who are trying to cut weight while maintaining there muscle mass). I've been on the diet for about 3 week and have lost around 5lbs. I started the diet primarily with the idea that I would be fighting in the future and definitely not at 170 and if I had to guess probably around 155 so obviously I would need to cut some weight.
Here's where recently I have had second thoughts about my current dieting/ s&c. I recently thought after reading plenty of diet and s&c articles on the forums that maybe I should hold off on the CKD diet since my current strength is not where I would like it to be. I plan on starting to lift at least 3 times a week again instead of just doing primarily cardio and sparring/training.
So basically I would bulk up somewhat and get my strength up and then begin to cut weight with a diet like CKD. The main reason I have come to this new conclusion is because after reading several articles I found that a lot of people were suggesting strength and lifting and then moving towards a cutting / maintaining phase when they were coming within a month or two of a fight.
After seeing this I reconsidered my current plan since I will not be fighting anytime soon in the immediate future. Let me know what you guys think I should do. Just so you know my new routine would just be to eat clean (lots of meats, fruits, vegetables) and not worry about keeping carbs down yet and also lifting 3-4 times a week while also doing cardio every day.
Part of my question pertains to whether or not doing 30-60 mins of cardio six days a week and lifting the other 3 days week would still allow me to increase my strength drastically enough or if it would be increasing my strength at a slower rate because of all the cardio. And the primary part of the question just has to do with a switching of my diet plan from the CKD to just a healthy clean eating diet.
Also if you guys have any thoughts on what weight I should fight at would be much appreciated. I know that this is a long post but I just wanted to make sure I could portray to you guys that I have indeed done my hw on this material and would just like some other opinions from people with what has worked and hasn't worked for you guys. Thanks guys.

I was afraid this may have been too long. Would you guys like me to try and revise this and make it shorter?

Thanks man. Yeah sorry about the lengthy death text but I just refined it with your suggestion. I'm writing this on a phone so I wasn't able to accurately tell how the post would look. Maybe now someone will read it haha.

Seems you are overdoing it - dieting and cardio six days a week. At 21, excess weight will drop off with reasonable training and cardio. As far as your diet, atkins-like programs are not long term solutions. You need to simply eat better and smarter - cut out everything white (flour, sugar, bread). Eat more veggies. You want a routine you can stick with, not a gimmick.

TS use paragraphs, also have sources ie. "quote" in square brackets + sources making it easier to follow. Start a diet log like myself. It will change your life. You will fee free of the shackles of binge eating, second guess whether or not to approach a hottie, and living out your wildest dreams.

I appreciate the advice Pabloze and I enjoyed looking at your diet log yipman. I plan on getting back into a good routine soon and hopefully posting some inspirational stuff. The fightclub diet you are following was definitely motivational to me while I was reading it.
