I've used the RNC grip to restrain my dog from attacking other friendly dogs that the owners had off leash and swarmed my dog. They just wanted to sniff him,but he wanted to eat them.

I didn't squeeze, but it is very effective at controlling and calming down a dog.

If it's attacking you, then I'd do it too; kinda like how Will Smith did his dog in that movie. I occasionally play like this with my dogs but I never intend to harm it, it's just me playing with my dogs.
