Review: Yokkao Bag Gloves

This will be a quick short review since I’ll let the pictures do the talking. Some background: Last October I was at the Sitsongpeenong Muay Thai Camp and thinking they had a King shop, I took no gear with me so I could load up once in Thailand. Once I got to Sitsongpeenong I realized all they had was Yokkao gear so I bought a pair of bag gloves so I could at least do something until I could hit up the shops around Lumpini.

Review: The gloves look nice enough from a distance but if you turn them over, the palm area has weird hard crackly leather, which if it IS leather at all likely came from dead cows left in the sun.

On my very first session when I landed punches I heard and felt pops from both my gloves which I first thought was my knuckles cracking then realized as I continued that the gloves were coming apart. I have Fairtex, King and even Everlast from 5-6 years ago that I use regularly that are in better condition.

The foam used inside should be denser for bag gloves but for these gloves it's what looks and feels like single layer soft mattress foam completely unsuitable for muay thai. I had to change the way I wrapped my hands to compensate for the lack of padding.

Looks nice enough:

Palm side looks like shriveled up dead orange cow:

Right glove busted up inside 1:

so why is their asking price competing with fairtex and all the top tier brands?
atleast to the U.S market, I wouldn't know anything about Thai prices.

I believe the equipment is made by the Muay Thai brand, which is a second tier budget brand in Thailand.

Third tier brands are FBT & Nationman.

Second tier brands are Thai Smai, Inter, Muay Thai Brand, Sandee, & Raja.

Top shelf brands are Twins, Top King, Windy, and Fairtex.
