Jacob Volkmann signs with World Series of Fighting...

Jacob Volkmann has quickly landed back on his feet following his release from the UFC last week.

The lightweight has signed a multi-fight contract with World Series of Fighting, Al Abdel Aziz, the promotion's executive vice president and matchmaker, confirmed with MMAFighting.com Tuesday night.

The 32-year-old is expected to debut for WSOF in June at the promotion's third event.

Volkmann (15-4) most recently lost to Bobby Green via third-round submission at UFC 156 earlier this month. His UFC record was 6-4.

WSOF 2, headlined by Anthony Johnson vs. Andrei Arlovski at heavyweight, is set for March 23 in Atlantic City, N.J.

Who cares if he's a Zuffa reject, he is a quality fighter and that's what I care about. Plus the guy when like 6-2 in the UFC LW division, he still could beat a lot of UFC LWs.

Don't get me wrong I like Volkmann, always have, I hope he has nothing but success in WSOF. I just think its a terrible business model to just sign everyone fired from a bigger company for good money just because they're a little bit of a "name"

You hurt my head.

Signing named fighters is a HUGE deal for smaller promotions.

Promoting a fighter is expensive. But once their name is known or on a big stage.
All you have to do is tell people "this person" is coming to town.

People will flock.

Comedians oddly enough are a prime example of this.

i dont have any problems with their model.....

fitch and volkmann will be on wsof 3 and they are known in the mma comunity...people even if they are not fans of their styles will tune up to watch what happens with their fights...

imo they need to also add mike russow to their hw division!!!
